OK, we’re still looking for some consistency here, so I certainly have some work to do.
Today’s photo is one from the city archives. It is a forgotten view of King and Bay Streets. This view is westward along King Street West. On the far right corner are predecessors to First Canadian Place, while the patina rooftop on the southwest corner show the former Toronto-Dominion Bank building, still years prior to Mies van der Rohe’s transformation of that corner.
Bay was once equipped for streetcars. This is evident from this downward view atop the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce’s Commerce Court North, then the tallest building in Canada.
